Welcome to Charleston! Check into your hotel and then join your fellow Fanfest guests for a welcome reception with cocktails and light bites at the Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel.
You'll receive your welcome packet outlining the weekend's events, a map and some information on what Charleston has to offer and a few southern goodies to make you feel right at home. Hang out and get to know the folks with whom you'll be enjoying the weekend!

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM WALKING TOUR
You’ll take a walking tour of historic, downtown Charleston. Amongst a backdrop of stately architecture and manicured gardens, you will explore the rich, cultural heritage of one of America's most charming cities.
From the Colonial period, through the War Between the States and Reconstruction, to her current renaissance, an incredible timeline of events will come alive.
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
COOKING DEMONSTRATION & LUNCH
Join Dorothea and her daughter Victoria, a chef and instructor for a cooking demonstration and a fabulous lunch prepared by mother and daughter (this event is first come/first serve and only available for purchase via the EARLY BIRD or ALL ACCESS ticket type.)
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Select Events ticket holders can enjoy some sightseeing in downtown Charleston. There are several restaurants welcoming Fanfest guests with a complimentary appetizer, dessert or beverage when you lunch with them. A list of these restaurants can be found here. Look for the Fanfest sign in their window. Be sure to mention the Dorothea Benton Frank Fanfest when you arrive at the restaurant.
4:30 - 10:30 PM
Jaunt over to Sullivans Island, Dorothea's childhood home and the idyllic setting for many a Frank novel. You'll experience a sunset over the Charleston Harbor right from Dorothea's back porch while sipping cocktails and nibbling on boiled peanuts. Then you'll head to dinner at a favorite restaurant you're sure to recognize from one of her novels.

Rise and shine early Sunday morning for a farewell breakfast and book signing with Dorothea Benton Frank.
